Welcome to B'nai Israel Living History Synagogue in Council Bluffs, Iowa! Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and continuously active since 1904, this historic shul is one of the region's oldest. In addition to hosting monthly services, arts events, and group activities, we preserve the legacy of Jewish life in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa.

    A fun twist on a classic poker run! Walk, jog, ride, or drive to 5 historic locations (connected to our collective past) near B'nai Israel LHS and collect a playing card at each location. Return to the synagogue for free lox and bagels where the 10 best hands win $500 for charity!
